my notes

  • 5:00 Being called by God can be looked at as your destiny or inner calling (or contextually based mutations)
  • 13:00 no empirical evidence for a transendent (or objective) Good, but there seems to be existential evidence (i suppose pragmatic evidence)
  • 22:00 clothing implies a role within the unconscious.
  • 29:00 you have untapped proteins that can be activated based on your surroundings, so you should go to many different surroundings.
  • 33:00 having a goal is analgesic to pain, so habing a large goal, where all of you is on board for is better. (Such as you fear is on board)
  • 37:00 free will, or a soul cannot be defined down to cultural or biological, but for success in practice we all think and act as if we do.
  • 43:00 nietzsches will to stupidity, assume youll do badly at something.
  • 55:00 after you’ve been to every single place, then maybe you can tolerate being in the center.
  • 1:00:00 the coat of many colors is an intimation of who joseph is (but if you take it literalistically its an a priori conception. Perhaps apriori conceptions actually work. Carnegie: assume the best from people and they’ll try not to let you down.)
  • 1:02:00 your not doing your child any favors by favoring them (cain and abel scenario, you maybe dont challenge them as much as you should) (sowell, eldest childrenl
  • 1:05:00 the dream is doing the best it can to tell you something you dont know.
  • 1:16:00 just because lots of terrible things happen to you, does not give you justdefication for turning against Being. (Job)
  • 1:23:00 are you the order, or the chaos, or the thing that travels in between them. Mediating them. (The small dots in the yin yang are the same person, just in different environments.)
  • 1:25:00 how the dreams seemed to predict the future.(…left and right brain communication)
  • 1:33:00 note that oppurtunity lurks where responsibility has been abdicated (new rule)
  • 1:55:00 sheerly the force of his character and confidence Joseph inverted the hierarchy he was within, that’s what the story is saying. (Seems a simplistic interpretation, missing something)
  • 2:04:00 who should be the top god, he who sees and speaks wisely, who conquers chaos and establishes a new world.
  • 2:08:00 (Joseph definitely is a strong precursor to the Christ figure, especially with the introduction of forgiveness for sins against you. (With the assumption of something transcedent that shall judge you.))
  • 2:08:00 theres no evil so evil that good cannot triumph over it. (Socrates quote) (and isnt that proven with game theoey and piaget’s equilibrated state, if compared with a tyrannical system, more effort is placed on enforcing the system.)
  • 2:12:00 if the same point is being made over five different levels of analysis, it’s not a coincidence. (A solution to postmodernism, and a tying bond between metaphprical truth and objective truth.)
  • 2:18:00 keep a light toch, a sense of humor, in regards to dark subject matter. (Listen to Wes Cecil’s lectures, the guy is essentially a comedian.) Humor is what makes life bearable, or maybe even better than bearable.
  • 2:24:00 evil is easier to multiply. Evil is easy.
  • 2:25:00 truth is the servant of love (that’s why you can get black truths)
  • 2:28:00 dissolve and integrate (battling tiamat)
  • 2:36:00 (overall …interjection I have for Peterson’s analysis, but I understand the necessity for it. Peterson tends to read the Bible like one might a work of fiction assuming it was consciously formulated based upon the truths the authors already knew. That’s not necessarily the creative process, generally, like a dream, we expound off of ideas or stpries that grip us and we attempt to flesh those ideas out, maybe learning along the way (or after the fact) just what the conscious moral truths behind it actually are. To do otherwise is to create propoganda. )
  • 2:38:00 there are certain sins that are too hanus to be able to crawl away from on your own. (Some external figure is necessary to rescue them, say in the prometheus myth. Potentially this is why the belive in a physical person who died for your sins is necessary, for you deservedly hate yourself for the evil that you’ve done, you deserve all the punishment you get. But for the consequences of your actions to be placed on an innocent party is unfair. That is your escape from deserved self destruction.also why Christ came for the poor and downtrodden, they’re the ones that need his narrative the most.)
